Introduction

QED's Quality Management Program (QMP) (encompassing Quality Assurance [QA] and Quality Control [QC]) utilizes structured quality processes for defining and organizing all elements of the program. Our overall management approach is based on defining clear and distinct activities and responsibilities, and incorporates QC review (e.g. formalized review of all deliverables) and focused executive QA oversight (e.g. biweekly management review briefs for each program).

We continuously strive to meet even the most demanding customer expectations through the rigorous application of the highest standards of integrity, assertive teamwork, diligent professionalism, and dedicated service. Internally, QED establishes quality objectives for implementing and improving processes. QA/QC establishes criteria for quality standards and metrics that apply to all products, processes, services (including those provided by suppliers and subcontractors), and deliverables. QA/QC also structures systems for controlling and monitoring adherence to the prescribed criteria and identifies adverse trends to management.  This is a framework by which the planning, engineering, and managing of each program is conducted by disciplined, reliable, and repeatable processes. These processes ensure that the translated user requirements are successfully integrated into the final product.

 Components

Our concept of QA relies on QC checks built into work processes, monitoring and recording performance of each team member through yearly reviews, Team Leads using a mentoring approach to continually train and improve an individual employee's performance, and review and approval of deliverables prior to submission to the customer. QED’s systems-based approach is utilized to develop detailed schedules, staffing solutions, front end analysis, and to identify work activities required to successfully complete all requirements. Our QA process, implemented throughout a programs lifecycle, ensures delivery of a quality product by providing:

  • Standard operating procedures to streamline routine tasks;

  • Continual progress and performance checks against performance metrics;

  • Incorporating lessons learned;

  • Concrete action based upon performance data to develop and incorporate additional training, improved supervision, re-allocation of resources, process streamlining, and performance tuning;

  • An initial review performed after the first month of the program, ongoing oversight and periodic audits of activities and deliverables, and reviewing and analyzing working documents;

  • Identification of program risks early to allow mitigation prior to execution;

  • Conduct regularly scheduled Engineering Review Boards to thoroughly evaluate any planned changes, and Configuration Control Boards to ensure all upgrades have been fully coordinated and approved by all stakeholders;

This allows us to ensure our quality standards and the Customer's quality expectations are met, while effectively coordinating, maintaining, and controlling program activities.

Results

Our Quality Program ensures customer satisfaction through: 1) the capturing and analysis of performance and contract metrics and; 2) high quality of performance in the execution of task orders in terms of cost, schedule, and technical performance requirements. Our approach provides an independent audit, review, and analysis of all project metrics and accurately reports findings to stakeholders.  Through data driven analysis, standardized QA/QC processes, and routine analysis of contract deliverables, QED is able to deliver a product that exceeds customer expectations within the defined timeline while providing lower lifetime costs.
